The Friends of Futuna Charitable Trust was established on 16 April 2003 to protect, maintain and manage Futuna Chapel. Trust see the Chapel as a spiritual and architectural retreat as well as a place for lectures and exhibitions, musical and artistic performances and other events in keeping with the nature of the building. The Chapel is listed as a Category I building with Heritage New Zealand. This means it is a “place of special or outstanding historical or heritage significance or value”. In 2024 the Trust changed is name to the Futuna Chapel Trust and will continue to conserve the building and make it available as often as possible to the public.
