STUDIO EIGHTEEN - Hand Built Ceramic Shapes for You + Your HomeKathy is an Australian designer with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from the University of Technology, Sydney. After relocating to Surrey, BC in 2016, Kathy’s creative journey expanded when she began exploring ceramics in 2019. She took classes at both the Surrey Art Gallery and the Maple Ridge Arts Centre, where her passion for hand and slab-built ceramics blossomed.With a background in interior design and architecture, Kathy's work is deeply inspired by the built environment around us. Light, shadow, texture, shape, and colour are key features that inform her designs, blending form and function in each piece.In February 2020, Kathy launched Studio Eighteen, originally starting with a jewellery collection. Over time, her practice has evolved to include an expanding range of ceramic work, from unique mugs and vases to sculptural wall art. Blending functionality with artistry, each piece is thoughtfully designed, handcrafted and fired in her home studio.Studio Eighteen ceramics are available at select stores in Vancouver, West Vancouver, Victoria and Salt Spring Island. In addition to her studio practice, Kathy is passionate about sharing her knowledge and skills through teaching hand-built ceramic workshops at The Clay Warehouse in Port Coquitlam and at a private studio in Vancouver.
