Welcome to Beautiful Bhakti.We are Claire Kushala and Allan Santipâlo and are pleased to be bringing you the beautiful practice of Bhakti Yoga, the path of devotion, which includes chanting and singing of sacred songs and mantras.Devotional singing and chanting, also known as Kirtan, can be a powerful connecting and healing experience. It is one of the Four Paths of Yoga, and it is where we begin to see all that is, as the embodiment of Love. It is believed that this practice leads to Moksha, the freedom from the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth.Together, we will sing and chant mantras dedicated to Hindu deities including Ganesha, Shiva, Shakti, Krishna, Radha, Rama, Sita, Lakshmi, Saraswati, Parvati, Durga, Kali and others. We will introduce you to the story of the deity and also the meaning behind the mantra. Although we chant to these deities it can be seen that we are identifying the qualities of them and how we can bring those qualities into our own lives.About Claire KushalaMusic has been a central part of Claire’s life since early childhood. It was woven through her formal and informal education through playing instruments, singing and her academic studies. In the course of her Yoga Alliance 200h Teacher Training in 2016 and Total Yoga Nidra facilitator training with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Nirlipta Tuli in 2018, she found herself especially drawn to the powerful and transformative effects of sung mantra and the weaving of sound into deep relaxation and meditation.Through her personal practice and participation in Kirtan and Bhakti events, she has experienced first hand the deep healing and benefits of the practice as well as gaining some knowledge of Sanskrit mantra and the Hindu deities they call upon.Sharing her passion for devotional song through leading Kirtan is an honouring of the deep call to contribute to a “virtuous circle” or positive spiral of healing and energy flow in her community.About Allan SantipâloAllan first connected with Bhakti in 2014 in Shrewsbury after attended a local event and it had a deeply profound effect on his wellbeing.He has been singing from a very young age in both school and church choirs, and more recently in harmony choirs across Sussex and reconnected with Bhakti in 2021, attending events in Brighton and Lewes. Allan qualified as a Gong Practitioner, training with the College of Sound Healing in 2016, and has been running Sound Journeys in Sussex for the past 7 years.Last year, at a 12 hour Kirtan event in Brighton, he met Claire and their voices blended so well together that they came together to form Beautiful Bhakti, to share this beautiful practice with others.
