My name is Julia Cooper, and I’m a dancer and musician based in Bollington, Macclesfield. I am a company dancer and dance educator for Sole Rebel - a tap dance company based in Liverpool using dance and music to bring artists and communities together.I have been a member of Sole Rebel’s Training & Performance Company since 2023. With Sole Rebel, I teach weekly classes for adults and children alongside Artistic Director Hannah Ballard, as well as dance and body percussion workshops for adults and children. Highlights include Womad Festival 2023 and 2024, Shakespeare North, Africa Oye Festival and Capstone Theatre, Liverpool.From 2017-2019 I was a member of City Academy Tap Company in London, performing regularly at prestigious venues such as Trinity Laban Theatre and Sadler’s Wells Lilian Baylis Theatre.I am also a musician, and have played drums for over 20 years. I have extensive touring and performance experience across the UK, Europe and USA in diverse venues, including SXSW Festival and Shepherd’s Bush Empire.I hold a Certificate of Completion from the NSPCC in ‘Child Protection in Sport and Physical Activity’. I have recently undertaken First Aid for Babies and Children with Mini First Aid, and I am DBS checked.
