We started Loafing Goat Bakery so we could share our passion for delicious baked goods with our friends and neighbors! Teaching classes is our way of sharing our passion with a new group of cookie decorators and bakers-to-be. I've found my love of baking many years ago. I have a passion for all things cookie and can't wait to share it!It's hard to frown at a cookie.Loafing Goat Bakery makes the cookies you crave! Always from scratch with only the finest quality ingredients Loafing Goat uses heirloom recipes to create artisan baked goods and confections that have old-fashioned goodness with new-fangled flair.Baking is a personal, special sort of - magic. No matter how bad your day is, when you even talk about cookies, cakes or other bakes, you "feed" happiness. Our aim is to feed happiness by providing people with great bakes.After baking as a hobby for friends a family for most of her life Kelly Rivett started this local, from scratch, made-to-order, artisan bakery where she creates sweet treats that taste as good as they look. Just before the Pandemic, Kelly and her husband Don along with their dairy goats moved to Clarksville, Michigan, and soon after "Loafing Goat Bakery" was born, named after the "loafing" dairy goats on their farm.Many of the recipes used at the Loafing Goat have been handed down through generations of bakers going all the way back to ancestors in Germany in the1820's. The most unique and historic item is the authentic German Springerle cookie. Springerle are a German tradition made using special intricately carved rolling pins, or stamps. Kelly learned to make Springerle from her Grandmother who used the rolling pin her family brought with them from Germany in the 1800's. Probably the first rolling pin Kelly ever held as a child, when she was standing on a kitchen chair learning to bake at her grandmothers side. Each year to this day, to honor that tradition, Kelly makes a special batch of Springerle, with that very rolling pin.
