UR Community Cares mission is to connect older, disabled and special needs neighbors with caring community volunteers to provide in-home non-medical support services that enable individuals to live more fulfilled, independent, happier lives at home, by safely “aging in place” with the dignity, care and respect they deserve.UR Community Cares launched the first of its community programs in 2019 with what is now known as Neighbors Helping Neighbors. This program connects volunteers with neighbors in need. By building meaningful relationships, volunteers help create a stronger, more inclusive community.Neighbors Helping Neighbors Opportunities include: Mentorship programs to bridge generational gaps and foster shared learning experiences. Assisting with daily tasks such as errands, light housekeeping, or companionship. Providing technical support to older adults adapting to new technologies.Since we started the organization, we’ve expanded our programming in support of our mission: to keep older and disabled neighbors supported in their homes and active in their communities. We know that maintaining independence for these neighbors also means reducing loneliness. In 2023, we developed the Directory of Blind and Vision Impaired Services and Organizations, which is available in several formats: a 100-page large print edition in English, a 27-page print version in English, an online version, a 100-page print edition in English, and a 27-page version in English/Spanish or on a flash drive. In 2023 we launched Cycling Without Age Manchester to provide access to events and parks for older and disabled adults to enjoy free recreation. In 2024 we opened UR Community Tech Center, as a result of partnerships with the Town of Manchester. In Nov. 2024 we began hosting a Manchester Parkinson’s Social Group. In Jan. 2025 we launched UR Vision Station in the Tech Center.
