I was born and grew up in Germany, where fresh sourdough bread is not just a daily staple- it is truly a part of everyday life. Many towns, villages, and neighborhoods have bread bakers who make traditional loaves from locally derived ingredients. Each town and region has a distinctive flavor and texture. When I moved to the US I could not find the authentic German bread that I had grown to love. So, I started baking bread. A lot of bread. And not all of it was good.After several years of baking, attending professional courses in bread baking and ongoing exchanges with talented bread bakers in the US and Europe, I have decided to pass on my knowledge in bread baking to the local community.
