The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) is a professional association comprised of women in construction and related industries. The national chapter was established in 1955 by 16 founding members.Today, almost 5,500 women in approximately 170 chapters across the United States are NAWIC members. The Greater Des Moines NAWIC Chapter celebrated its 50th Year Anniversary in 2013. We are continually seeking ways to advance the causes of all women in construction, from trades women to business owners. The Greater Des Moines Chapter has members from many of the major contractors and suppliers in this area. We encourage our members to gain business contacts and knowledge, develop personal skills and lasting friendships. Educational and entertaining speakers present programs at our monthly membership meetings. We tour job sites to give our members insight into current projects in the Des Moines area. Chapter 80 NAWIC provides scholarships for college students in construction fields through our annual golf outing and encourage construction as a career path to students through our outreach programs.
