We are the Ndi Igbo Cultural Association of Nova Scotia (NICANS)—a volunteer-run, community-rooted charity dedicated to celebrating Igbo heritage while building bridges across cultures. Our calendar ranges from vibrant public gatherings—like the IRI-JI (New Yam) Festival and the “Áfàméfùnà” documentary series—to hands-on language classes, history workshops, culinary pop-ups, and wellness circles that blend ancestral wisdom with modern well-being. Every program is designed to spark curiosity, amplify under-told stories, and foster equity, diversity, and inclusion throughout Atlantic Canada. Whether you join us to dance to talking drums, taste roasted yam under open skies, or witness film that revives forgotten voices, you become part of a living tapestry where community, creativity, and cultural pride flourish side by side.
