Hi!My name is Merrian, or Mezza to my friends! I have been teaching crochet for more than 10 years, predominantly at the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre in Walton-on-Thames.I started The Riverhouse Hookers crochet group in 2013. Since then, I have taught more than 200 students how to crochet! The group runs term times and caters for a variety of skill levels from complete beginners to more advanced students.I am an advocate of the Slow Fashion Movement, encouraging students to use natural fibres and steering clear of plastic yarns, such as acrylic which are made from fossil fuels. I believe that by mindfully making our own clothes and homewares, we can become more aware and appreciative of what it takes to produce crochet garments and products and how items on the high street are often produced through the exploitation of people and the planet. As well as teaching, I am a published crochet pattern designer, sharing free tips and tutorials on my website and YouTube channel, MezzaCraft.
