The OEM Engineering Apprenticeship is targeted at engineering companies that manufacture, install, commission and/or service equipment, plant or machinery. It is a national programme open to employers and apprentices from all over the country.It is a three-year programme, with a 16-week college block each year at either Monaghan Institute or Raheen Training Centre in Limerick, with the rest of the year being spent with the employer.The apprentice qualifies as an OEM Engineering Technician and is highly trained with a much sought-after skillset across many sectors and industries. Being a multidisciplinary programme, the apprentice is experienced in various areas such as mechanical, electrical, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, and automation.Employers are using this apprenticeship to upskill existing staff and new hires, specifically to their business needs and are finding it extremely beneficial in terms of staff retention and succession planning
