The Association for Astronomy (AfA) was established in 1988 by Dr. Alan Vaughan to promote knowledge of astronomy to the community and to encourage teaching and research in astronomy and astrophysics at Macquarie University. We sponsor activities through ourPlanetariumandAstronomical Observatory, and host an Astronomy Open Night each year as well as other special events. We run weekly observing sessions on Friday/Saturday nights (in good, clear weather) that are open to all members of the public, as well as offerprivately booked sessionsfor schools, Scout groups, Girl Guides, or any other groups of any size.
