Dr. Deborah Stroman is a professor, connector, and advocate. She now serves as an advisor and instructor at theGillings School of Global Public Healthat the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia. She also founded and directs theCenter of Sport Business and Analytics. As an enthusiastic entrepreneur, organizer, and educator, Dr. Stroman's instructional focus and experience lie in the leadership domains of Equity, Entrepreneurship, and Sport Business.With over 35 years of business experience, Dr. Stroman is a strong advocate for the empowerment of historically marginalized communities and serves as a national trainer with a leading racial equity training firm. She examines organizational and leadership behavior to promote understanding of racial constructs, institutional barriers, and team dynamics. She is a president-emeritus of the UNC Black Faculty and Staff Caucus, which afforded her the platform to advocate, counsel, learn, and share with underrepresented community members. Her clients include major research universities, athletic and community organizations, foundations, government agencies, municipalities, nonprofits, and small businesses. Stroman has received local and national media spots on Elite Daily, ESPN, NABJ, NPR, PBS, SportsBusiness Journal, UNC-TV, and the WBCA.
