Laraine Hutcherson is the founder and executive director of REACh—a California 501c3 established as the result of her own personal challenges. She and her husband have four children, two of whom have been diagnosed with mental health issues and other disorders. Their difficult journeys inspired Laraine to create an organization that would provide families with the support they need to effectively address the challenges posed by, and experienced by, their children.When mental health conditions are left untreated, children often create chaos in the home, suffer in the classroom, and fail to function successfully in their communities. Distraught parents—devoid of any real direction or comprehensive plan—progress from feelings of frustration to acute distress to utter helplessness. Solving these problems and empowering families is the driving force behind REACh. Our mission is to create a bridge between parents and the services they need for their children. By linking them to relevant and effective programs, we can help bring about hope, peace, and a belief in a brighter future.
