As an organization, Grassroots originally served Waco through building and remodeling homes. Over time, the organization has come to understand that cultivating healthy neighborhoods is more than just building attractive and affordable homes. Grassroots utilizes an asset-based community development approach to serve neighbors, children, and communities. Neighbors are served through leadership development training classes, free financial literacy and homebuyer education, and counseling to prepare families to become homeowners. Children are served academically through fostering family engagement efforts and school-community partnerships. Communities are served through roof and exterior home repair programs, building new homes and community enhancement projects.
