History: The Friends of St Margaret’s Church, Bethersden is a registered charity (no. 296611) that was founded in 1987 to raise money for essential repairs and to contribute towards improvements to St Margaret’s church.
The church has stood in the heart of the village for over 1,000 years and the aim of The Friends is to help ensure that it continues to do so for generations to come. What we do:Examples of projects that The Friends have contributed towards include:replacing decaying pewslaying of a York Stone floor in part of the navenew internal doorsrestoration and cleaning of stained and leaded glazing.Fund raising is never easy but The Friends’ approach is to focus on three or four key events each year so that there is something that will appeal to everyone. For example, for the last 30 years, The Friends has organised a concert by the King’s Men – the choral and organ scholars of King’s College, Cambridge. We also hold a annual summer party for everyone who lives in Bethersden. You do not have to be a member of the Friends to attend and enjoy events.
