TEDxReno is an independently organized licensee of the TED organization. TED is a 40 year-old global nonprofit that is known for its conferences featuring short TED Talks which reach millions of people each day and whose videos have had several billion views.The TED community believes in the power of ideas loosely centered around Technology, Entertainment and Design to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world. Through short presentations, leading-edge thinkers and doers share “ideas worth spreading” that tackle humanity’s toughest questions with innovation, enterprise, and optimism. TED Talks are available at TED.com, a viral video clearinghouse of free knowledge from the world’s most inspired and innovative speakers.In the same spirit, TED created a program called TEDx, which are independently organized TED-like events intended to inspire innovation locally and share “ideas worth spreading.” TEDx events are locally produced by volunteers and are nonprofit and non-political. TEDxReno talks are uploaded to the TEDx Youtube Channel which has over 35 million followers, and videos from TEDxReno, and its predecessors have reached over 100 million viewers.
