The Friends of Herring Run Parks (FHRP) is a community-based leadership organization established in 2007. Originally formed by the Herring Run Watershed Association (now Blue Water Baltimore) to mobilize community participation in development of the Herring Run Park master plan, FHRP became an independent organization in 2010. Our activities are focused primarily on Herring Run and other parks within the Herring Run Watershed, also known as the Back River Watershed. The mission of the Friends of Herring Run Parks is to preserve, protect, restore, and promote Herring Run Parks and its stream valley for the benefit of present and future generations.FHRP offers recreational programs, restoration activities (e.g., tree plantings, nature walks/conservation education, trash clean-ups) and advocates on behalf of the park and its community. Our events and programs are open to all and we would love to see you!Our vision is to create a vibrant, restored stream valley park that connects its many segments to one another, its neighbors and its business communities, and adjacent Morgan State University. Herring Run is part of Baltimore’s “One Park”, its greenway connecting to Lake Montebello, to trails running up Chinquapin and Herring Run, and down Herring Run to Back River.
