Chicago Playback Theatre is a performance ensemble, which brings personal stories told by the audience to life onstage using improvisational theatre, movement, and music. Unlike other Improv you might see in Chicago, Playback is not focused on comedy. It centers on the belief that personal experience of any kind, from the profound to the ordinary, from the joyful to the traumatic, is worthy of attention, respect, and a voice. Our ensemble believes in the community building, dialogue igniting, and empathy strengthening power of stories, and we are creating a summer tour where stories from all over Chicagoland will be voiced, heard, and reflected back.
