The UCL Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE) was established in 1885 as the first department of electrical technology in England. It was founded by Professor Sir Ambrose Fleming, inventor of the thermionic valve and hence the founder of the discipline of electronics. That same pioneering tradition of innovation and excellence continues to underpin our work. We push in new directions across research, education and entrepreneurship, building on our long-established links with industry and benefitting from our loyal and supportive alumni community. We are committed to develop individuals and careers, across staff and students, developing and supporting our subject discipline. Our track record of industry collaboration dates back to 1899, when Fleming became Scientific Advisor to the Marconi Company. Today our collaborators range from major international companies and government bodies to SME.As Engineers, we believe that practical application and interaction with industry are an inherent part of what we do. We are always keen to talk to companies and external organisations, both large and small to explore how we might collaborate.
