At Innovation Africa, we are working to make technological innovation a vector for sustainable human and economic development. We fiercely believe that entrepreneurship and innovation will drive Africa’s potential on a global scale. With the continent’s population expected to peak at 1.6 billion in 2030, nearly 70% of Africans will be of working age. Innovation Africa wants to ensure that the right technological and infrastructural investments are made by tapping into the continent’s human capital. We create strong partnerships with the African and wider international tech community, from policymakers to investors and founders. We fundamentally believe that those who experience societal challenges are best suited to solve those problems. We recognize that women in particular are underrepresented in the tech field. Despite high rates of female entrepreneurship in Africa, women face significant barriers in STEM. Innovation Africa acknowledges that start-up ecosystems benefit from the leadership of women and girls, and it is our priority to champion that leadership.
