Janea West is a storyteller and producer, creating content that is comedic, relatable, and community-driven. Featured work includes her DC-based web series GROWN (2019) that captured the lives of four young Black femmes through their journey into adulthood. She's received various awards and grants, including the artist fellowship with the DC Commission on the Arts and Communities. She recently received a grant to produce her second DC-based project; a short-film about a young woman looking to make impact in local politics. When she's not writing and producing her own work, West works as a creative freelancer to support projects that are inclusive and inspirational. In 2020, West made the temporary move to Los Angeles to develop relationships within the TV industry, and is hoping to bring more awareness to the conversations, characters, and history of DC - including the lack of representation and statehood. She now resides bicoastal between LA and DC, writing stories that reflect the spaces she's in. Learn more about her at janeawest.com.
