The Carlyle House Historic Park is a historic house museum and garden located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. We are committed to telling the stories of people associated with this property since 1753 when the house was finished by City of Alexandria town founder, John Carlyle. Discover the stories behind the architecture of the house, why historians think the seeds of independence may have been planted here, the enslaved individuals and families who were involved in all aspects of running this 18th century household and how the property and Alexandria evolved over time. The site is available for rental. Carlyle House is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and is owned and operated by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority.
