Akila Richards

Akila Richards is an award-winning published writer, poet and spoken word artist. Her performances and readings take place in a variety of artistic, cultural and educational settings.Her writing features in Penguin, Peepal Tree Press, Waterloo Press, Flipped Eye, Covert and online platforms. Her collaboration with other artistic genres includes film, digital and visual art and theatre.Her poetry pamphlet ‘Ritual For a Mango’ was published in February 2024 at Goldsmith University at the International Black Speculative Writing Festival. Her published short story ‘Secret Chamber’ was adapted into a play script to a sold-out premiere. Akila is currently writing her first novel for publication.
