Anthroposophy is a spiritual philosophy founded by Rudolf Steiner (1861–-1925).It strives for a deeper understanding of the human being, deeper self-knowledge as well as an awareness of the spiritual world, through meditative practice. Numerous practical, social, scientific, educational and artistic initiatives and activities have arisen from it. It strives for the highest ideals in human development, towards individual spiritual freedom.The Anthroposophical Society In Great Britain is part of the General Anthroposophical Society, a world-wide organization with its centre in Dornach, Switzerland. The websites of the Global and UK societies provide much more in-depth information about Rudolf Steiner and the Society. Anthroposophy in Edinburgh is the Edinburgh Group of the Anthroposophical Society and focuses on hosting, organising and providing information about initiatives and events connected to or flowing out of Anthroposophy in and around Edinburgh. ‘Anthroposophy in Edinburgh’ has its own constitution but shares the aims of the national and global societies.
