Ella Satterthwaite is an artist whose work delves into gender politics, blending 18th-century aesthetics to critique, distort, and reinterpret the mythological ideals of beauty. Her art explores how these standards intersect with the performative aspects of femininity. She specializes in creating sculptural pieces using found ceramic figurines sourced from the West Midlands, transforming them through processes like ink dyeing and incorporating elements of glass jewellery to create intricate, decorative works. Her most recent curatorial work has been with Grand Union Gallery under the University of Birmingham collective to create the 'UNMASKING || REMAPPING' programme, a response following the Babeworld and utopian_realism exhibition 'Love is Real, and It's Inside Of My Computer'. Following this work, she is now facilitating workshops across Birmingham.
