Kerry Tap Ensemble

Kerry Tap Ensemble (KTE)was founded in September 2017 as an offshoot of the Cantarina Music & Dance School. Based in Kerry, Ireland, KTE was established to provide high-quality, inclusive, and accessible tap dance training to dancers across the country, with a strong focus on performance.Since its inception, over 100 dancers have taken part in KTE’s workshops and programs—performing everywhere from the streets of Kerry to international tap dance festivals. The ensemble regularly works with top international faculty, and several members have gone on to represent Ireland through theTeam Ireland Programat events such as theDance World Cupand theIDO World Tap Dance Championships.KTE is led byDr. Trish Melton, a passionate advocate for tap dance education and its deep-rooted cultural lineage.“Here at KTE, we’re committed to developing tap dance across Ireland—always learning from the best and honoring the origins of the art form.”Today, the KTE program includes over 50 members across Ireland and the UK. Weekly hybrid training sessions focus on technique, improvisation, choreography, and historical repertory. The group is currently preparing to perform atShantalliv Tap Festival 2025.KTE is also the home of theShantalliv Tap Festival, now entering its third year. The festival was created to expand the reach of tap dance in Ireland and to showcase what world-class tap dance truly looks like.
