Hello! My name is LaToya Dawson. I am a theology and social work major with a background in policy change advocacy. I volunteer with Perinatal Outreach & Encouragement for Moms & The National Down Syndrome Society. I curated The Maternal Garden stemming from my love for mentoring and serving my community.My goal is to help educate, assist, and encourage women to be aware of the many challenges/risks associated with being a Black woman while pregnant & during labor. Knowing the resources that are available to you and how to utilize them, as well as how to advocate for yourself. This extends to postpartum and mental health resources (especially when doing it alone), all while providing a safe space for empowerment and comfort.I pray that The Maternal Garden blesses you and provides you with the comfort you are seeking!
