The Red Ma’at (pronounced ‘Muh-aht’) Collective started as an idea back in early 2015 to centre Black, Indigenous WoC/gender-expansive folx in yoga and wellness settings in accessible ways and using a trauma-informed lens throughout the Greater Toronto Area.Many of the earlier sessions took place in multi-purpose rooms, outdoors, and in various settings organized in collaboration with the community. service centres and initiative. Programs varied in length and frequency based on budgets and organizational factors. This often left participants with inconsistent programming that wasn't reliable, consistent, or that they could grow with.We believe that everyone deserves access to consistent, reliable, high-quality wellness and yoga opportunities. Our intersectional approach to wellness is critical to being impactful with those we serve. We are dedicated to increasing wellness accessibility to BI&WoC/gender-expansive folx virtually and in spaces that uplift and inspire with the mindset that the surrounding environment and community can facilitate ease and healing.
