Someone’s entire world can change in 6 months.From the night our founder, Serena Thompson, dreamed of a place where her son would be accepted, where he would have a chance to learn, to the moment The Lighthouse registered its very first student—6 months.6 months.For the last 10 years, The Lighthouse has grown—breaking down barriers, providing world-class intervention, and keeping costs as low as possible for families who need us most. We have partnered with the Els Center for Excellence in Jupiter, Florida, to bring their renowned adult services to Ontario—a program that does not exist anywhere else in Canada.But here’s the truth: our fight has never stopped.Despite our dedication, despite proven success, our efforts to secure grants have been shut down over and over again—without explanation, without transparency.Instead of wasting energy battling a broken system, we are putting everything we have into making these programs happen on our own terms.This September marks our 10th anniversary.And in honour of that milestone—and the fact that it only took 6 months to turn The Lighthouse from a dream into reality—we are launching our first-ever fundraising campaign:6 Months.From World Autism Awareness Day (April 2nd) to our 10th Anniversary in September, we are hosting 6 months of events, activities, and fundraising—to make up for every grant denied and to show the world what 6 months can do. Our goal? To raise the full amount of the last grant we were denied—$600,000.Yes, $600,000 in 6 months.
