About

The mission of the Early Responsive Nurturing Care for Food Security (EARN-FS) intervention is to identify pathways to increase access to existing health and nutrition services to reduce food insecurity levels among pregnant and caregivers with children under three years of age residing in the West Las Vegas Promise Neighborhood communities (zip codes: 89101, 89106, 89030, 89031,89032).Over the last two years, The EARN-FS team housed in the UNLV School of Public Health has worked alongside with the Maternal-Child West Las Vegas Community Advisory Board (CAB) organizations to develop a series of informational community-led workshops related to the evidence-based Nurturing Care Framework as part of major efforts to reduce maternal-child food insecurity. The community-led workshops are meant to be culturally congruent spaces to provide information and enhance social support. Topics will address reduce maternal-child food insecurity across six themes: good health, responsive caregiving, early nurturing care, safety and security, and adequate nutrition. The community-led workshops will be open to any member of the community and the community identified the need of offering childcare on site to facilitate single parents to attend, and benefit from the resources that will be offered to address different dimensions of food insecurity.
