BDSC was founded in 2020 during the pandemic and the goal of BDSC is to bring together young African diaspora in the Greater Vancouver Area to connect and build community through events. The first event, a barbeque named KPK was held on the August long weekend at Kitsilano Beach, which featured roughly 200 guests and was founded through community contributions. Since then, BDSC has continued to host an annual event in August and has grown in popularity and community engagement. The organization is known for fostering a sense of belonging and connection among young African diaspora in the area through collective effort and celebration.
