BDSC was founded in 2020 during the pandemic and the goal of BDSC is to bring together young African diaspora in the Greater Vancouver Area to connect and build community through events. The first event, a barbeque named KPK was held on the August long weekend at Kitsilano Beach, which featured roughly 200 guests and was founded through community contributions. Since then, BDSC has continued to host an annual event in August and has grown in popularity and community engagement. The organization is known for fostering a sense of belonging and connection among young African diaspora in the area through collective effort and celebration. By witnessing the Government of Canada's plan to invite 500,000 immigrants each year in the country, we have observed a significant increase in the number of African diaspora in the city.This club has been established to cater directly to their needs and help them integrate into Canadian society. With its annual events, BDSC aims to create a sense of community and connection among the young African diaspora in the Greater Vancouver Area and it has been successful in achieving this goal.Purpose:To empower and uplift members through educational and social events, promoting unity and African cultural experience.Mission Statement:To provide a safe and inclusive space for Black diaspora to connect, build community, and celebrate their cultural heritage.
