Founded in 1892 by education pioneer Emily Ward, Norland is the oldest early childhood education and care training institution in the world. Emily Ward recognised the need for early years childcare to be more structured, centred around the child, loving and nurturing.Throughout its constant development Norland’s values have remained the same, with children being at the centre of all decisions and the Norland mottoes ‘Love Never Faileth’ and ‘Fortis In Arduis’ (Strength in Adversity) being central to its values.Norland is committed to strengthening its relationship with alumni through the dedicated efforts of the Norland Agency and Alumni teams. Regular events, networking opportunities, and continuing professional development (CPD) courses enable graduates to stay informed about the latest developments in the early years sector while maintaining strong connections with their peers. The Professional Association of Norlanders (PAN) offers alumni the opportunity to be officially recognised as members of a professional body, in addition to providing a professional career pathway to become Norland-endorsed specialists in specific aspects of childcare through postgraduate qualifications.
