Embark on an adventure of creating woven textiles with me. I use a simple backstrap loom to do all my weaving. My challenge is to find ways to weave items that are usually created using more complex looms. I have taken weaving classes in Laos, Thailand and Japan. Only two of the classes used the backstrap loom. My weaving adventure also took me to online classes that were conducted by master weavers in USA and Canada. The backstrap loom is used in many countries around the world and what makes it particularly appealing is that it is highly portable. I have taken my loom to an outdoor concert and sat on a mat to weave while waiting for the concert to start. My goal is to teach this weaving technique to others so that more can experience the joy of using something that they have made with their own hands.Besides weaving, I have also recently started spinning cotton yarn. Spinning is the way to turn unstructured fibre into yarn that can be used for weaving and other fibre arts. I spin using a homemade spindle, and I also teach this in my spinning workshops.
