The Aquaculture Association of Nova Scotia (AANS) was established in 1977 to act as the primary voice for the aquaculture industry in the province. The main goals of the AANS are to support and unify the efforts of industry and stakeholders to help expand aquaculture production, creating wealth based on a sustainable and renewable resource in Nova Scotia. The AANS represents more than 100 members comprised of suppliers, academic partners, and finfish, shellfish and seaweed farmers who account for 95% of all active aquaculture acreage in Nova Scotia. The industry directly supports approximately 900 jobs and contributes more than $100 million dollars to the provincial economy.
