Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will & Grundy Counties

Founded in 1970, the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will & Grundy counties is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Our Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter has helped thousands of children in Will, Grundy, Kane Kankakee, Kendall as well as 6 other counties. BBBS operates under the belief that inherent in every child is incredible potential.BBBS is the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network – we make meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through young adulthood in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.Become A Big - All you have to do is explore and learn together a couple hours a month for a year. Play sports together. Go on a hike. Read books. Eat pizza with pineapple. Or just give some advice and inspiration. Whatever you enjoy, odds are you’ll enjoy it even more with your Little – and you’ll be making a life-changing impact.Enroll a child - We connect a Little of any age with a Big to spend time together in the local community – littles in the program are empowered to ignite their potential as they grow into mature teens and thriving young adults.We have statistical evidence that youth matched with a big experience leads to increased confidence & self-esteem, improved school performance, higher avoidance of drugs and alcohol and better interaction with family & friends.
