A Non-Profit Organization created to add more colour to the skiesOUR MISSIONEmpower: support our talents within the workspace by leveraging technology and resources to supplement career development and programming for employees and leaders.Celebrate: cultivate a community of understanding and appreciation of the Black experience; challenges, culture and heritage specifically in the aviation industry.Unite: foster meaningful connections in the Black aviation community to influence and inspire youth.INSPIRE THE NEXT GENERATIONWhy is it so difficult to find Black talent in Canadian aviation? For many, when you think of aviation you think of pilots and flight attendants. Becoming a pilot requires extensive training at a premium; financial and personal. Barrier number one. Interested in becoming a flight attendant? Great. But in Canadian aviation we didn't 'look the part'. Barrier number two. If we don't have the financial resources and we didn't 'look the part' how do we know there is space for us to excel in aviation?First, BAPN will promote the aviation industry, not only pilots and flight attendants. Second, allow the Black community to see themselves in aviation. Third, show the Black community that there is space for them to excel in aviation. And finally, help provide resources for the Black community to enter and thrive in aviation.BAPN will help prevent us from being redirected from our dreams and aspirations within aviation. We understand the need to show the Black community that there is space for them in aviation and they have a seat at the table. Focusing on providing mentoring and networking opportunities and access to financial resources, will help challenge the current trajectory of what it means to have a diverse aviation industry in Canada .
