City Changers of Memphis was founded by Tara Crawford, a passionate advocate for community development and youth empowerment. Tara’s journey began with her work in City Changers of Memphis from 2003 to 2013, where she created events and programs to uplift the city's most vulnerable citizens. Following a personal family tragedy in 2014, Tara stepped down to support her family and her father's ministry, ultimately becoming the senior leader of Redeemed Empowerment Center, also known as The REC. She developed the FIRE program, which has transformed many lives through emotional healing and dream-building. In 2023, as problems among the city's youth continued to grow, Tara relaunched City Changers of Memphis. In 2024, she met with school administrators, city leaders, and parents to identify community needs, leading to the launch of the ONEthing campaign to mobilize citizens towards collective action for city-wide transformation.
