MISSION STATEMENT: Daughters of Sara is a women’s support group. It was made up of farmworkers and rural migrant workers who organized themselves about 30 years ago. Today, all women from all walks of life attend Daughters of Sarah meetings. Here we, Daughters of Sarah, meet in a safe place to discuss our problems and through wisdom and shared experiences, we are given advice by Daughters of Sarah. We, Daughters of Sarah, come away with a feeling of self-empowerment and as a result, take the initiative to improve our lives and be master of them. We also offer food, clothing, a safe place to stay in the case of domestic violence, transportation to a Dr.’s office, an opportunity for a week of summer camp for a deserving child, a Christmas Store for children of the rural poor, Celebration of Black History Month and 1 day women’s seminar. Anything we can do to help improve our lives. We believe that when we feel grounded, we are able to improve our stations in life, whether it is lifting ourselves out of poverty, obtaining a better education, or even finding better jobs.OUR WISH: To continue our summer camp for children of the rural poor and migrant farmworker children, so that for one week, a kid “can just be a kid”. While many children will want to come to camp, they may not have the essentials, such as soap, tooth brush, toothpaste, face cloth, towel, etc We thank you in advance for yor consideration of this worthy cause and for any contribution you may give.
