There has been a Place of Worship on this site since 627 AD. There was a stone Minster building in Saxon Times and, having been reconstructed several times during the last nearly 1400 years, the present building incorporates materials from all ages in between. Dewsbury Parish is a Mother Church of West Yorkshire starting from the time when it covered a Parish area of 400 Square MilesThe present building was most recently re-ordered in the 1990’s with a fresh modern look, entirely in keeping with its Christian History and Heritage. In doing so it has become a superb venue for Civic Services, Musical Events, Conference gatherings, meetings, presentations, learning groups, and has a Refectory Café ready and able to support the work of the Church and Events with refreshments and social interface.
