Dr. Brita Allgyer, DPT

Dr. Brita is a board-certified physical therapist and pelvic pain specialist. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from George Mason University and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Marymount University.She is a Northern Virginia native who is driven by a passion for helping others achieve their optimal health and well-being. She has always had a love for helping people and understands firsthand what it's like to be a patient. After recovering from her own injuries, Dr. Brita gained a deep appreciation and love for physical therapy. With over a decade in orthopedic physical therapy, she decided to further her studies into women’s health. Being a mom of four children and struggling with endometriosis and bladder pain, she knows first-hand the challenges women face in the healthcare systemDr. Brita founded Pelvic Healing and Wellness Physical Therapy to help women overcome pelvic floor pain and dysfunction and remove the taboo surrounding it. She proficient in multiple modalities including Graston, dry needling, therapeutic cupping, myofascial release, joint mobilization, muscle energy techniques. and trigger point release. She is trauma informed and believes strongly in hands-on manual methods and takes a patient-centered, holistic approach to physical therapy. Her passion is women's health, particularly pelvic pain, endometriosis, bladder and sexual dysfunction, and pre and postpartum care.She is an active member of many organizations including the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy, Herman and Wallace, and the International Pelvic Pain Society (IPPS).
