Fort Worth (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated
The Fort Worth (TX) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated was organized on December 5, 1959, with ten friends as Charter members (Viola Borders, Marie Brooks, Ethelyn Burnett, Sybil Byrd, Hortense Chatman, Mae Pearl Flint, Mutelle Flint, Marie Platte, Ruby Williamson, and Zelma Woodard). Our chapter was sponsored by The Dallas (TX) Chapter and a “White Rose Tea” was held to introduce the chapter to the Fort Worth community.During our nearly 65 years of service to the Fort Worth and surrounding communities, we have provided financial and/or volunteer support to: The Fort Worth Child Study Center; Girl Scouts of America; Casa Manana; Fort Worth Independent School District “Just Say No” Project; The Fort Worth Arts Council; The Urban League; the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History; NAACP; All Church Home for Children; Sister Cities; Tarrant County Stop Six Community Dental Clinic; Susan G. Komen “Race for the Cure”; the Fort Worth Public Library System; Presbyterian Night Shelter; Habitat for Humanity; Ugandan Children’s “Tour of Light”; the Women’s Center; United Community Center; Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Arts Hall; Doris Kupferle Cancer Program; Carter Blood Care Center; Van Cliburn Foundation; Minority Leaders and Citizens Council; Imagination Celebration; Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation; Day Resource Center; Boys Choir of Harlem; Cook Children’s Medical Center; United Negro College Fund; Jubilee Theatre; and numerous other worthwhile projects and organizations.
