Friends of Waterfront Park are ambassadors of the park. Our ultimate goal is to ensure our community’s continued use and appreciation of the river.We engage enthusiastic supporters through a variety of programs, events, education, fundraising, and marketing efforts. With a vibrant and active membership, we work hard to educate others about the significance of the river and our waterfront. We work closely with the Waterfront Park Board to form meaningful partnerships with other community groups in the city.We also support the park’s main events, including Waterfront Wednesdays, Juneteenth Jubilee, Clean Team, Fourth of July on the Waterfront, and the Silver Anchor Awards Reception, through our fundraising efforts.Mission:A volunteer-driven organization focused on supporting Louisville’s Waterfront Park through promotion, advocacy, and fundraising.Vision:To ensure the community’s continued use, appreciation, and support of Louisville’s Waterfront Park.History:Friends of Waterfront Park began as the Marketing and Community Involvement Committee for Waterfront Park. In 1988, we founded Friends, and in 1991, we became a separate nonprofit organization. We continue to work closely with the Waterfront Park team to promote and grow our park.
