The Fur Peace Ranch is a musical oasis established as a guitar camp in 1989 and is owned and operated by Vanessa Kaukonen and Jorma Kaukonen, whose own experience in popular music is legendary -- in the 1960s he was lead guitarist for the Jefferson Airplane and has been a member since 1996 of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Fur Peace Station, the intimate 200-seat concert hall where musicians -- just as illustrious as the camp faculty members -- draw crowds from as far away as Chicago, St. Louis and New York. Concerts routinely sell out -- and quickly -- but the program "Live from Fur Peace Ranch" is broadcast and live-streamed by Athens radio station WOUB, where archived material also can be heard at their website. More than six million listeners have had exposure to Fur Peace's world-class concerts via YouTube.
