Helen Arthur

Painter and printmaker Helen Arthur believes there’s solace to be found in our stunning marches landscape. This finds full expression in her semi-abstract mixed media paintings and tinted etchings of the hills and hedgerows.She began to explore creativity around around 8 years ago, starting out with playful linocut printmaking of animals and wildlife. Her lively designs are often carved from circular plates and printed in colour or hand tinted.Her stone-built home and studio is perched on the edge of the Welsh border in Longtown, close to Black Hill (Crib y Garth) and the beacons. She often starts working outside, wandering, sketching and planning. This prompts ideas that are further developed back in the studio using her trusty printing press.Helen enjoys teaching her varied techniques in person at Ewyas Harold Craft Centre and online with her “art club straight to your inbox” called Kitchen Table Creatives.You can meet her in person at Skirrid Gallery & Studio, which she opens to visitors on request.
