Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre

The Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre was built in 2013 to bring to life our site's incredible wildlife, archaeology and landscape for members of the public. Owned and operated by the BCP council, the Visitor Centre offers an excellent museum, gallery and shop alongside a seated courtyard area, a secret wildlife garden and a replica Iron Age village. Our one-million-pound Visitor Centre was built using grant money from the National Lottery Heritage fund, landfill tax, and developer contributions. It was built with stability and longevity in mind. We offer a wide range of Green heritage events, covering wildlife, ecology, conservation, endangered crafts, ancient technology and living history. Our site caters to over 120 local schools and educational bodies. Through our robust programme of events, we hope to bring the natural world to life for the 1.2 million annual visitors our site attracts. Our site is designated and protected as a Local Nature Reserve, a Scheduled Ancient Monument, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Special Area of Conservation, a Special Protection Area and a Site of Natural Conservation Interest.
