Over the past fifty years, the Iranian community at Stanford has been a vibrant social group. While the number of Iranian students at Stanford ebbed and flowed over the years, it reached its high water mark in the late 1970s when members of the Iranian student community frequently organized and enjoyed group activities and social gatherings. These activities continued when many of the students of this era remained in the Bay Area after graduating, greatly enhancing and enriching the lives of the Iranian community. Not only those living in the area, but often alumni living in other parts of the world travelled to be part of events such as the yearly Norooz festivities organized by the Iranian Stanford alumni volunteers.
