James Mays

Band Aid's founder James Mays is part of the inspiration for the movie School of Rock. He is a National Champion Teen Band Coach and votes on the Grammys. Mays has supported young bands in Austin since 2001. By founding and producing teen festivals including The Kids Are Alright Fest (2003-2011), Jam Fest (2007-2017) and SXSW Underage (2010). He also produced SXSW Music (2006-20012) ACL Fest (2012) School Jam Texas (2007) and School Jam USA (2008-10). He is a lifetime musician and gained his 10,000 hours playing in bands by that age of 21 with his band Bob Popular. James founded Band Aid School of Music in 2009.Band Aid School of Music was formed with the purpose of helping bands thrive creatively and financially. This battle is to further the creative power of Ausitn music and to mentor young musicians to succeed in music.
