Jamie A. Guay is a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, after graduating in May 2024 with her Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy from Converse University. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology in 1999 from Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts and is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (March 2016) and has been a Dementia Specialist since 2006.Upon graduation, she began working at Emerge Family Therapy with the Post-Degree Institute Fellowship Program where she is offering therapeutic services to couples, families, and individuals. Her niche focus is working with clients whose lives have been impacted by Alzheimer's or other related dementia. She is also the owner and sole-proprietor of Silver Lining Counseling, LLC and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Paint Clover Purple, a non-profit organization that empowers people to live their best lives with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.She moved to Greenville in 1999 and began her career at a local nursing home as a Social Services Assistant for three years; followed by her role as a Long-Term Care Ombudsman with the Appalachian Council of Governments from 2002-2013. In this role, she advocated for the rights of residents in long-term care facilities and investigated abuse, neglect, and exploitation. She also educated the facility staff and families on a variety of topics that face this special population.She found her passion when she started working as the Program Director followed by her role as the Statewide Family Services Manager for the local Alzheimer’s Association, SC Chapter from June 2013-May 2023. Jamie, alongside dedicated volunteers, helped to educate the community, long-term care facilities and home care agencies on the various concerns related to this disease. She was responsible for the help calls and most importantly, providing support for the families that are affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. Since February 2020, she developed and coordinated a variety of support groups for those individuals living in the early stages of dementia where she was able to reach people from all around the world.Jamie resides in Greenville with her husband, their two teenaged children and their two dogs and cat.
